Two pairs of candlesticks of this model were supplied to the Palace of Fontainebleau in 1804 and 1805 by Claude Galle (1759-1815), and a third pair, with the stars replaced by rosettes, is recorded at Fointainebleau from 1807 (see Jean-Pierre Samoyault, Pendules et bronzes d’ameublement entrés sous le Premier Empire, 1989, figs. F626, F1165C, p. 177).
