The Wye College Newel Figures

Set of seven painted wood figures, possibly representing the Seven Virtues, one of the two larger bearded male figures as a Roman soldier, the other as Hercules, the five female figures all bare-breasted and with drapery around their hips, one pouring from a jug.

English, c. 1620.

Now re-installed  at Wye College, Kent.
